The Town of South Bristol will host a Community Conversation on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at South Bristol Town Hall, 6500 West Gannett Hill Road, to discuss how the community can prepare for the county landfill closure planned for 2028.

The event is part of the South Bristol Community Engagement Committee’s ongoing public engagement series, featuring Carla Jordan, Director Ontario County Sustainability Department, Chris Debolt, Ontario County Administrator, and Judy Voss, South Bristol Town Clerk.

 It builds on recent Town Board presentations by the Ontario County Department of Sustainability on recycling and the landfill closure.

As the town plans for the transition, discussion will focus on:

· Protecting the transfer station through stronger resident-only access controls.

· Expanding composting to reduce landfill waste and methane emissions.

· Improving recycling through better household sorting, hazardous waste reduction, and textile donation education.

The forum will give residents an opportunity to share ideas, ask questions, and help shape the town’s long-term waste reduction and environmental planning efforts. Educational mailers and recycling magnets were recently distributed to all households through a grant from the Ontario County Department of Sustainability.
